Poseidon's Fury (Part One)
An island surrounded by oceans of fear
No boat, no life, only memories here
Knee deep in the ocean I call out your name
As a tide of small failures swamps me with shame
The waters are restless - they shift and retreat
To let giants arise from the sand at my feet.
They darken the sky and pull in the tide,
And strip me of every vestige of pride.
Alone in the wet surf, unsteady and cold,
I conjure your image and try to be bold
I long to feel your strength at my back,
Your courage would help me withstand this attack.
You are never afraid. Always cheerful an calm.
Your affection is armor, your belief is a balm.
But no matter how desperate or pleading my cry
The wind bends the sound to a mocking reply.
I know you won't come, we are miles apart
And the distance is tearing a hole in my heart.
You cannot not save me or strengthen my hand.
I'm alone in the salt spray, the storm, and the sand.
